Live-In vs. Live-Out Caregiver Arrangements

Separate accommodation from working time

Describe the room and shared spaces, but document actual on-duty hours separately. Check the province's rules for domestic or live-in workers before setting pay.

Test the live-out schedule

Share the general location and ask the candidate to assess travel at the real start and finish times. Discuss weather disruptions, late finishes and any required vehicle use.

Neither arrangement is automatically better or cheaper. Compare privacy, continuity, commute, available accommodation, employment obligations and the candidate's preferences.
